Yet, the scale of the filtration system in comparison to the overall pitcher size is the main drawback. Water is poured into a basin at the top and then filtered slowly before draining into the pitcher below. The basin combined with the filter takes up over 1/3 of the space of the entire filter system. The design could be improved by increasing the volume of water held by the pitcher while decreasing the space taken up by the filter itself.
