Kindle Fire HDX

Kindles are among the leading ebook readers on the market. The Fire HDX improves upon the design of previous Kindle versions to enhance the function and usability of this popular reader. The Kindle is 7 inches in diameter and features a high-resolution display of 1920x1200 and impressive pixel density at 323 ppi. The Kindle is perfectly designed for multimedia options, such as watching movies or listening to music.

The display is one of the best aspects of the Kindle Fire HDX. The user can watch images on the screen through horizontal or landscape display by turning the device sideways or vertically. The touch screen increases usability, making it easy for users to navigate through applications and browse menu items on the reader.

While the Kindle Fire is a major improvement over prior versions of the reader, it has a few areas that could use improvement. First, the screen display does not always quickly adjust when the device is rotated horizontally or vertically. The lag in adjusting the screen can prevent users from reading or watching videos in the position that is most convenient for them. Further, while the popping display graphics are eye-catching, the display can strain the eyes after a short period of time. Considering that the Kindle as originally intended to provide a convenient reading experience, this is a significant problem to address. The Kindle would be well served to adopt retina display technologies or other display designs that facilitate reading and activities that require staring at the screen for long periods of time.
