Kindle DX

The Kingle DX is an older, yet highly functional, model of the popluar Amazon Kindle ebook reader series. With dimensions of 9.7 inches in diameter and an E-ink display, the Kindle is designed primarily for reading. This reader lacks the frills of other Kindles and lacks multimedia features or color display. However, the display of the Kindle reflects the soft texture of a printed book, providing an enjoyable reading experience for the user. While this design in very basic, it fulfills the devices purpose of allowing readers to enjoy full books from home.

While the Kindle DX provides a large display that is ideal for reading, it does have many functional limitations. First, to navigate through a library of books, an individual must manually scroll through their library by pressing two side buttons. If you have a large library with hundreds of books, it can take a long time to fully navigate through your books. While the small keyboard provides search options, the buttons are so small they inhibit quick typing for longer inquiries. Further the inability to organize the books listed in the library impedes the ability of readers to browse through their library. To improve this design, Kindle should add a touch screen that enables users to organize folders for their e-books through touching and dragging files. While this feature would come at the expense of display quality, it would ensure that the design remains convenient to users and prevent this model from becoming obsolete.
